NCAA 14 by EA Spors...freezing issues with Ultimate Team games

Does anybody know why EA Sports can't fix the glitch with the ultimate team game?  I truly enjoyed playing ultimate team and was completely hooked...I bought packs and spent a bit of money...then the game just started saying loading when I would do a solo challenge.  Does anybody know how to fix this?  I know EA has probably dissolved the division...but it would be nice for them to fix this issue for those of us who were deticated to the franchise!

Coaching Change

Army has removed their head coach for losing to Navy over and over.  Mack Brown has been removed from Texas cause of his inability to have solid quarterback play.  The University of Virginia has retained Mike London who suffers from both quarterback and lopsided rivalry issues yet he remains the highest head coach in the ACC.  Is anybody in the Athletic Department awake or paying attention?

Pathetic Football

Virginia football is pathetic.  I can't believe how this program that I've invested in both financially and emotionally has tanked.  It's a damn shame!

The HOOS 19...BYU 16

It's been too long and I do apologize.  Things have been hectic lately but I'm back.  Same could be said for the University of Virginia's football team.  The Special Teams and Defense came up huge at a soggy Scott Stadium to edge the Cougars by 3.  The pressure promised from new defensive coordinator     Jon Tenuta was delivered in waves...or was that the drainage running down the stadium steps...

While the offense struggled throughout the day, the other phases shined.  The defense held BYU's hurry up attack to a measly 3.5 ypp and a paltry 3.9 ypc.  The kicking game was solid including multiple punts inside the 10 and a 53 yard field goal.  For once in the past several years the special teams was close to special.

There were negatives from this game, two costly turnovers that resulted in points as well as several drops and missed blocking assignments.  I'm sure the coaches are already breaking down film of the areas in question.  For a first game against a quality opponent though, I'll gladly take this weather-delayed win.  Most important of all, Sydney experienced the first of many Saturdays in section 111 and he made his Daddy proud with how quickly he picked up the fight song!  Go Hoos...bring on the Ducks!!

Congratulations to the Miami Heat

King James and the Miami Heat won their second consecutive NBA Championship this week.  It was a hard fought series with the very battle tested San Antonio Spurs.  I enjoyed each and every game and really appreciated how well both teams competed.  I'm not sure if Miami can win three in a row but I am sure that King James has proven the doubters and haters wrong.  He is the best basketball player in the world and if you still don't see that then you're not paying attention and you have no idea how to watch and dissect an NBA game.  He is the best all around player...end of discussion...watch the tape!

Nice opening win for Uva Baseball...French Open tennis...

The Hoos won a pitcher's duel Friday 2 to 1.  They will play again tonight at 6 PM.  I'm hoping they pull out a series win this weekend so that I can take Sydney up on Friday for the first game of the Super Regional.  As a side note i'm really pulling for Oklahoma this weekend...wonder why! :)

Sloane Stephens played well this morning and advanced to the 4th round at the French Open.  I'm really hoping that someone beats Nadal...really tired of him winning this event every year!  Not sure if Novak or Roger have enough to beat him though and there really isn't anyone else that can challenge him.

Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals is tonight and the Birdman has been suspended.  David Stern obviously wanting a Game 7 in Miami on Monday night.  Look for Indiana to pound the ball inside and win easily.  King James will deliver in Game 7 though and then we are looking at a Spurs vs. Heat epic showdown!!

Congratulations...

The Uva men's tennis team won the National Championship today by defeating UCLA.  I'm proud of the team and their efforts as they went a perfect 30 and 0 on the year!  Now let's kick VT's ass in baseball tomorrow at the ACC Tournament!! WAHOOWA

Post NIT news...

I took a couple of days to digest the season ending loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes.  The team, overall, looked tired and Justin Anderson and Mike Tobey really needed help against the Big Ten squad.  I was extremely disappointed with the way the season ended and with what seemed to be fatigue getting the best of my beloved HOOS.

I have always been of the opinion that if you lose to the other team because of talent, then so be it.  However, if you lose because you were mentally not as tough as the other team or you were out-hustled by the other team, that is totally unacceptable.  I feel very strongly that the off-season conditioning program needs to be ramped up and it is vital that the upperclassmen display the mental toughness necessary to lead the team and inspire the underclassmen.

I'm a huge fan of Coach Bennett and his staff.  I feel he has us on the right path.  However, in order to reach the level that we want to reach some mental and physical toughness desperately needs to be injected into this program.  John Crotty and Bryant Stith need to drop in and talk to this squad...they need an edge and if they find it...they will be scary good next year.  GO HOOS!!

NIT

The University of Virginia men's basketball team had a dreadful performance both in terms of free throw shooting and turnovers.  As usual the defense bailed them out and they were able to escape with an 11 point win over their 757 neighbors from Norfolk State.  The upper class men really didn't have the team ready and motivated and the Coaching staff could clearly see that.  They inserted Teven Jones at the point much earlier and they also played Justin Anderson for more minutes.

Sparked by the freshmen Jones and Anderson and their energy level the Wahoos were able to hold off the Spartans.  The next round opponent will be St. Johns and it's going to take a much better effort to advance to the third round.  While I was unimpressed, I'm still thankful for the chance to watch the HOOS play hopefully again hopefully on Sunday afternoon.  WAHOOWA!!

Quin Blanding...Five Star Safety

When 5 star safety Quin Blanding announced his college choice last week he had no shortage of suitors.  The likes of Ohio State and Alabama came calling, Urban Meyer personally recruited this young man.  That's some serious recruiting right there.  Yet, the Virginia product chose to go to the finest University in his home state, The University of Virginia.  His commitment pledge was huge in a year where the state is loaded with Nationally recognized players.

Quin has already hit the recruiting trail to lure other top players to join him at Mr. Jefferson's University and I'm hoping for some huge names to follow.  With a tough home schedule and showing all the elite commonwealth prospects they aren't afraid of competition, the UVA football program is clearly sending a message.  Let's hope that message translates to wins on the field this year and more prosperous results on the recruiting trail.

Let's catch up...

Congrats to the Baltimore Ravens on their second World Championship.  It's a shame that the 49ers undefeated record in the Superbowl is now over.  They had a good run and I was very proud of Cam Johnson and Ahmad Brooks balling out wahoowa style.

Got my season ticket information after the announcement of the Oregon game.  Tickets are up...guess I'm gonna have to work plenty of regular overtime this year.  Thankfully I can stretch out the payment over a year now thanks to the VAF.  I do appreciate that and all those attending games with me this fall will appreciate it as well.

Tomorrow is national signing day and I'm excited at the potential for a top 35 class for my beloved wahoos.  Coming off a 4-8 2012 and with a massive coaching shakeup I will take anything in the top 50!  I expect rumors to heat up very soon about Uva to the Big Ten.  If this happens I should have a good friend of mine accompanying me and my dad and my son to several games over the next couple decades!  GO HOOS!!

The Wait is Over!!

The University of Virginia announced the hiring of four assistant football coaches today.  These hires are exactly what the Wahoos needed in the opinion of this fanatical fan!  Coach O'Brien was here during the glory days of HOF Coach George Welsh and his value to the staff is going to be felt at every level.  The offensive line will benefit, the offensive coordinator will benefit, the tight ends will benefit, and, most importantly, the head coach will benefit.

On the defensive side of the ball, Coach Tenuta will bring an attacking style that he honed at Ohio State and Georgia Tech.  He is football alumni, which is the icing on the cake for this hire.  He believes in blitzing...relentlessly...hit the quarterback and punish him...make him feel it...that's aggressive defensive football and I want it implemented immediately!!

On special teams, Coach Banks has an outstanding background and his coaching acumen on special teams speaks for itself.  His units at UTEP were consistently at the top of the Conference and rated in the top third nationally!  Expect immediate improvements in this area.

The final hire is my favorite, Coach Hagans.  As a loyal die-hard fan, this is by far one of my favorite HOOS of all time.  This kid was a complete Uva success story; he worked hard on the field and in the classroom, was an outstanding citizen and a community contributor.  He was a damn fine quarterback and made "Meangelo" Hall look like a punk in the 2003 VT game when he continually beat that fool play after play.  I will never forget the 2005 Music City Bowl and the game that he had leading us to a win over Minnesota of the Big Ten.  I remember that megawatt smile lighting up the jumbo tron as he was presented the MVP Trophy...it was an honor to watch him play that day!  I'm thankful I was there to enjoy it with him and my beloved HOOS!

Hopefully we can get this thing turned around and have a couple of bowl seasons in a row, collect a few wins over that other school in Blacksburg, and then schedule a few big boys...maybe an Ohio State or a South Carolina...GO HOOS!!
